Oppidum Moscato di Terracina DOC Secco

Oppidum Moscato di Terracina DOC SeccoCantina Sant’Andrea – Lazio, Italy.  This one-of-a-kind dry Moscato (Muscat) is the flagship of this venerable cellar in the western part of the Lazio wine region of Central Italy.

Introduced as a 2007 vintage, Oppidum, Latin meaning “enclosed space,” is made from 100% harvested Moscato grapes sanctioned only from the vineyards of Monte San Biagio, Sonnino and Terracina, located high above the Riviera of Ulysses along the Tyrrhenian Sea, and nowhere else.

A golden straw-like yellow, Moscato di Terracina DOC Secco is quite intense to the nose, conjuring up tropical fruit, dried rose and apricot. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, this dry Moscato balances the acidity with exuberant aromatic notes that close out with the taste of slightly bitter almonds.

An ideal wine to enjoy with seafood based antipasti, first and second courses, and it also works as a wonderful aperitif.

One taste of Oppidum and you’ll understand why Ulysses and his crew extended their stay at the sorceress Circe’s palace.
