Festa della Repubblica

Festa della RepubblicaDID YOU KNOW?

Today is “Festa della Repubblica” (Republic Day) in Italy.

It’s a national holiday that commemorates the referendum of June 2, 1946 that voted out of power the monarchy in favor of a freely elected republic.

Because of the vote, the male descendants of the House of Savoy were sent into exile.
