Phoneographic Parco Querini

Eyes closed, I blindly chose ARCHITECTURE from the à la carte shooting menu for this week’s Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge and went in search of a worthy target with my iPhone 5.

In the Centro Storico (Historic Center) of Vicenza — in the Veneto region of Italy’s northeast — lies a tranquil greenbelt known as Parco Querini (Querini Park). Originally the private garden of the Palazzo Querini Capra, an early 19th century estate, the park threw open its gates to the public in the early 1970s and hasn’t looked back. The centerpiece of Parco Querini is a temple built by Antonio Piovene in 1820 that sits on a small island surrounded by water.
