Before I call it a night, I need to quickly gather my thoughts — they’re a bit hazy right now after today’s late afternoon-into-evening lunch (no doubt all the vino) — so that I don’t forget where I’ve been, what I’ve seen and what I’ve experienced thus far on Insight Vacations‘ (Insight) abbreviated “Country Roads of Italy” itinerary through Umbria and Tuscany.
Recapping, the “band of merry media” — guests of Insight on this journey — have seen Rome by (rainy) night, visited the Vatican Museums, turned flour and eggs into pasta strings with The Etruscan Chef, nearly touched the sky in Orvieto, went underground in Perugia, were wowed in saintly Assisi, searched for a virgin in an olive grove and walked the cobble of Spello that led us to a Sunday afternoon like no other (the aforementioned eating and drinking well past twilight).
Seems like we’ve been on the road forever, but we’re only a third of the way through this premium-escorted journey. Still to come: Cortona, San Gimignano, Fonterutoli, the Ferrari Automobile Musem, Bologna and Venice. And, of course, more fine dining, great wines and a few of Insight’s impromptu “signature” moments to keep us on our toes.

Waiting patiently for the Cortona bit. One of my very favourite towns, where I have spent lots of quality time. Hope you managed to visit the museum to see the wonderful works of Signorelli and that magical Fra Angelico. Unforgettable. Keep up the good work neighbour. 🙂
Just did a quick in and out of Cortona, very brief. I was on the clock with the others and couldn’t spend any more time. Missed both Signorelli and Fra-A.
