This is the week in October where the third Monday resides, and you know what that means, right? A Phoneography Challenge in BLACK and WHITE.
What is it about B&W photography that draws us in, holds our interest and captivates?
Whenever I see a grayscale frame, I immediately harken back to the days of B&W movies, especially the film noir genre. One of my all-time faves, and probably yours, too, is Casablanca.
It’s overcast, cool and raining outside, and I’m in a B&W kinda mood stuck inside my Grand Hotel Terme retreat on the grounds of Terme di Comano; so, I thought I’d wax poetic to narrate the storyline of my updated version of the Bogart-Bergman classic, which now unfolds somewhere in the Brenta Dolomites of northern Italy.
SAY WHAT? CASABLANCA? IN THE DOLOMITES?
Well, it’s where the photos were taken with my iPhone 5.

A covered bridge, weather beaten, dark
Alone, confused, in a hurry, a woman
Footfalls across shadows, mysterious
Petals, bright white, dot the way, rendezvous
A gin joint, smoke-filled, loud
Through the crowd, eyes meet, Rick nods
Ebony embraces ivory, hearts flutter
A song, regretful, melancholy
No todays, no tomorrows, only the past
Paris
Played once again, just for her, by Sam
As Time Goes By

Prose? Doubtful the above example is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between me and the quill. But, hey, you never know. Right, Louie?

Engaging set of images. My favorite is the flower, which is lovely and well captured. Happy Phoneography Challenge.

Beautiful Tom.
Grazie mille, cara. 🙂

My dear you do B&W as well as you do color. You take that as the highest of compliments.
