Honesty is the best policy, right? Well, truth be told, the only reason that I’m sorta-kinda on vacation is that I’ve been sent packing to Terme di Comano (TdC) for two weeks by my physician.
Doctor D suggested that I undergo a series of thermal baths at TdC to treat a skin disorder that I’ve been doing battle with for the past three-plus years. Supposedly, the mineral makeup of the mountain spring water around these parts — rich in bicarbonate, calcium and magnesium — is ideal for treating what ails me. With nothing to lose, I agreed with my doc and decided to take the plunge.
So, for the next 15 days I’ll be staying in the upscale Grand Hotel Terme (GHT), the only hotel right on the grounds of TdC, where I’ll be pampered morning, noon and night — if I so desire — to ensure that I get the most benefit out of the local H2O.
The TdC — surrounded by lush greenery, ponds, waterfalls and a river — is located in the vast Adamello Nature Park and surrounded by the Brenta Group of the Dolomite Mountains in the Trentino Alto Adige region of northern Italy.
In between my two-a-day soakings — early morning and early evening — I’ll have plenty of time on my hands, and I plan to fill it with daily photo shoots to the many different and interesting locales that are within an easy drive from my retreat.
I’ll save the reporting on the GHT — it’s first-class service, discreet staff, incredible dining, wonderful wines, and, most importantly, its convenient TdC-certified, in-room spa therapies — at the end of my stay.
For now, enjoy the views around the park-like grounds of TdC and inside the GHT.

Have fun, rest easy and hope it helps!
Thanks, Tina. I’ll do my best. 🙂
I’m sorry you have to deal with the skin condition but the (hopeful) cure sounds quite lovely!! I’m looking forward to seeing the photos and, in two weeks, hearing all about it. That tart or whatever looks amazing!

Janet — It’s a problem that I’m dealing with, and I could not have found a prettier place to do battle than here at the TdiC and all the great scenics around these parts. I’ll unravel it all as I go along.
I can think of worse cures. This sounds heavenly, but sorry you are having to go under these conditions.
Thanks, Lynne!
I hope you find the results you are looking for, and enjoy some R&R at the same time.
I’m here for a cure or at least some positive traction to move forward. Thanks!
I would please like Doctor’s D phone number and address. I think I need a prescription from him. Hope the beautiful surroundings are enough to overcome the reason you are there.
Angeline — Here in Italy, the national health care system affords its card-carrying members one spa treatment a year to cure or at least alleviate what ails you. I’m sure I’ll be back here around this time next year.
And some Americans are upset about ObamaCare. This is what we need!
Enjoy your rejuvenation….that scenery would set my heart aflutter. I look forward to seeing more wonderful images….that fruit tartlet looks absolutely scrumptious! Best to you, 🙂
You keep reading, I’ll keep posting.
I wish my doctor would recommend a treatment like that for me – such a beautiful spot.
Move to Italy and the National Health Care System will assist in a spa treatment such as mine.
What a wonderful place to be banished to, Tom. 🙂 Good luck with the treatment.
I’m fortunate that this large spa has a therapy tailored for my malady. Hopefully, it’ll take the first time around; if not, I’ll just have to be banished again. 🙂
Gee Tom, What a shame to have to stay cooped up in such a place under Dr’s orders! Beautiful photos!
