Just back from a relaxing week at the seaside resort and port city of Senigallia in the Marche region along Italy’s Adriatic coastline, I enjoyed seven laid-back days of early morning rises and late night turn-ins.
Noted for its kilometers-long Spiaggia di Velluto (Velvet Beach), sporting the prestigious international Blue Flag designation, Senigallia was the perfect destination for me to experience firsthand the joys of a true Italian seaside vacation and the therapeutic values of saltwater, sun and spaghetti con vongole e cozze.
Here are just a few of the 800+ shots I framed during my stay. I’ll be showcasing more in a series of upcoming dispatches on Senigallia: what to see, where to stay and what to eat.

Looks like paradise, Tom. Beautiful skies. 🙂
Sylvia — It was, at least for a week. Glad you enjoyed the colorful skies over the Spiaggia di Velutta.
You took some beautiful photos, Tom. I look forward to seeing more.
Thanks, Pat. As soon as I organize the 800+ shots and my thoughts, I’ll post a few articles on Senigallia. Stay tuned. PS. Like your new pink-hatted mug shot. 🙂
Yummy photos, especially the seafood risotto/paella !! I can almost taste the sea 🙂
We’ll go with seafood risotto. Glad you enjoyed the short look at Senigallia. I’ll post more info on this Italian seaside vacation destination soon. Stay tuned!
O wow. I looked at these photos and wished I was there.
Well, I was there for you. 🙂
Glad you were able to relax, Tom, while I was getting ready to move my entire house full of 28 years-worth of stuff!! 🙂 Really, I am glad. We survived getting everything ready, although I’m not sure the movers survived packing it, and deliver date will be Wednesday. I’ll need some risotto by the time that’s over and more than one bottle of wine!! In the meantime, your beautiful pictures relaxed me this morning.

Sounds like you didn’t get much sleep but had a marvelous time. Love your shots.
Dian — I got plenty of sleep (afternoon naps), but did get up early to catch these beautiful sunrises before the sunbathers arrived.
