The latest edition of my photo shoot around southwestern France finds my toes buried in sand, my hands wrapped around chilled glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, and my knife and fork working overtime on several well-prepared dishes at the seaside resort of Pyla-sur-Mer.
Situated along the Atlantic coast, Pyla-sur-Mer is located in the community of La Teste-de-Buch at the entrance to the Bay of Arcachon.
Along with the pristine beaches and small out-to-sea inlets, the area also boasts Europe’s tallest sand dune, Dune du Pilat. Standing 110 meters at its highest point, this great dune measures about 500 meters wide and stretches 2.7 km in a north-to-south direction. In short, it’s one heckuva sandbox.
Beautiful food shots!
Thanks, Pat!
You’re making me hungry!!!
Blame it on the chef. 🙂
I walked that dune in 1978!
Congrats 2 u, Chris!
I have some fond memories of Pyla and camping de la dune!
Oh my gosh. I just had dinner and now I’m hungry all over again. THANKS! 🙂
You’re quite welcome. 🙂
raw oysters with ice and Japanese mustard is always my favorite dish… yummy yummy…
Smile-W — We had the raw oysters, but no wasabi. Just fresh lemon juice. Mmmm. 🙂
OK crazy – they’re all great but I love the rope shot!!!
Tina – Thanks for the thumbs-up on the “rope shot.”
