Sweet Old Rides

Sue, the Skinny Wench, opened the unabridged and found herself staring at the word OLD, this week’s A Word-a-Week Challenge.

Classic Car Show - Vicenza< Italy | ©Tom Palladio ImagesWith the price of gas being what it is today, I’ll keep this note under the speed limit and let the below video take you around the block on its own.

Suffice it to say that youth has nothing over these steel-bodied, horseless carriages of yesteryear. They’ve all endured the test of time and have earned the right to toot their ahooga horns and proclaim themselves classics.

Enjoy these restored beauties — sweet old rides worthy of The Untouchables, Miss Daisy and the petrolheads over at Top Gear.

  1. Nice cars! I really like how you format your slide shows and especially the music you chose. A class act, Tom.

    1. Thanks Pat. The video formatting of my slideshows comes from the style selections available on my MacBook Pro. The music I go in search of that’ll match up well with the visuals, or vice versa.

    1. That little red car is a ’65 Autobianchi Autobianchina Cabriolet (convertible). The green one parked next to it is a ’67 Autobianchi Giardiniera, a short wagon, which was built on the Fiat 500 frame. Fiat was partial owner of the Autobianchi line, joining forces with Bianchi. Glad you enjoyed the auto(slide)show.

  2. Uniche e belle!!! BTW, I heard on the morning news that Dubai police is getting Lamborghini white with green stripe in the center, just so they can drive around and catch thieves.

      1. Well, in Italy police drive Alfa Romeo, or Alfetta many years ago and Italy is no way to be as rich as Dubai.

  3. Steph is not going to be happy that you didnt include a Fiat 500 and not sure the Autobianchi Giardiniera will count…

    1. I can only shoot what’s there. The 500 was not one of the cars on display. That said, there’s another classic car show this Sunday here in town and I’ll be there. I’ll capture a cinque-cento if there’s one on the lot.
