Cheri of HQ WordPress takes the lead on this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge: COLOR.
Living here in Italy, the “Big C” across the country stands for cibo (CHEE-boh), food.
From the oven, cooktop and grill, to the table, plate and glass, food and drink around the Bel Paese is very, very colorful and very, very appealing.
Italian culture is bookended by food, with art, architecture, design and fashion sandwiched in the middle.
Food, in all its variety, is the single most important ingredient of that illusive la dolce vita and probably the reason why so many tourists travel to her shores again and again to whet their appetites and wet their whistles.
From the time they’re able to hold a fork, Italians quickly learn to savor and enjoy every bite, morsel and sip, and appreciate all the hard work and time that painstakingly goes into plating culinary works of art.
Nothing says more about Italy than the food it prepares and the enjoyment that comes from its consumption. Simply put, la Penisola begins around the table and her color grows from there.

Absolutely beautiful food (because of great photography) but still not as beautiful as your sweetheart. She is adorable.
Pat — Thanks for the rave review on the food photos and my granddaughter. She does love her pasta.
Great colors! M is such a sweetie 🙂
You’ve made me hungry – time to go eat 🙂
G-Sue — Thanks for stopping by and commenting about the food and Maddie.
Just got home from a friends house and a bottle of wine shared. While my dinner cooks I check my WP Reader and here you are with a lovely video of food, Italian food, colorful food, scrumptious food! Somehow my dinner just doesn’t compare…..
Scrumptious! And you’re right – nowhere else does one see a more colourful metamorphosis from field to table 🙂
Meredith – Glad you’re in agreement. Thanks for the note.
Mtn-G — It won’t be long before you touch down in Napoli and you’ll be able to sample all that goodness firsthand.
Mighty good food, Tom. The baby girl is demonstrating just my desire.
D – Thanks for commenting. Glad you liked the shots.
I am so impressed! La dolce vita e’ un po’ andata, cio’ che e’ rimasto e’ il colore.
Valentina – “La dolce vita” as a way of life may be just a dream today, but at least around the table it’s alive and well. Thanks for the note.
Food in Italy will never die.
I love Italian food. It always looks so tempting and irresistible.
Thanks Sylvia!

No, “thank you” for stopping by and commenting.
You certainly has a special knack with not only cooking, but the fabulous photographs that come with it. Such talent!
Emily — Food photography isn’t too difficult. Shot in a “closed environment” with full control over the light. The trick is to be able to shoot well while cooking at the same time. Now, that’s difficult. Thanks for the thumbs-up! 🙂
