Home is Where You Hang Your Hat

I hang my hat, a real one, in Vicenza, the City of Palladio, a real little jewel of a city in the Veneto region of Italy’s Northeast.

I call my home along Viale Verdi my creative hideaway. It’s where I spend way too much time reaching out into the great open space known as the blogosphere.  It’s where I connect with others and tell my side of the story — living la dolce vita from an expat’s perspective in the Bel Paese.

La Torre Bissara - Vicenza, ItalyWith my Borsalino on my noggin’ and a great little city right outside my door, down the stairs and out the front gate as inspiration, it’s pretty hard not to like it here and brag all about it.

Look, I fell in love with Italy years ago. I’m inspired by the beauty I find in all things that are very, very old; and, reliving history, or at least strolling around centuries-old streets, alleyways and piazzas and just looking up and marveling at what occupies the space still today, really gets my virtual “Vespa” running.

In short, I’m just admitting that, “Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina (Vicenza) in the morning.”

Enjoy the short video around my adopted hometown.

  1. Wherever my beautiful Nocturne is that’s my home! Home is where your heart is I think! We are lucky to spend equal amounts of time in France and Italy and we love both! Your town looks lovely! Bisous Bailey

  2. Tom,
You made us a little homesick this morning with your beautiful homage to a place we called home for a decade in the distant past. Thanks for keeping us in touch.
    Ciao,
