Don’t shoot the Messenger!

Outlaw Josie Wales - 1976 ©Malpaso Company | Warner BrosIn case you haven’t noticed, I’m frantically waiving a white flag.

I implore you to not bring any harm to the person who is the bearer of bad news (moi!).

Please, please, whatever you do DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!

Did someone just yell, HOLD YOUR FIRE!?

Whew!

Thank you.

As you know, many of our fellow bloggers receive awards from other fellow bloggers, and they, in turn, dole out the same awards to other fellow bloggers. This continuous giving-and-receiving cycle — frowned upon by some, smiled upon by others — is played out countless times daily around our beloved WordPress blogosphere. And, today is no exception.

Some of you — the ones that are adjusting their sights, like the outlaw Josie Wales up there, and beginning to take aim in my direction —  don’t want to be bothered. The rest of you, on the other hand, are generally pleased to be acknowledged by a fellow blogger for the effort you put forth on your blog and gladly accept the “merit badge” offered.

Again, I’m not taking sides in this debate, if one actually exists. Remember, I’M JUST THE MESSENGER. Well, sort of.

As the recent AND embarrassed recipient of four awards — the Versatile Blogger Award courtesy of Kim from Tranquil Dreams, and the Super Sweet, One Lovely Blog and Beautiful Blogger Awards courtesy of DJ Rackiey from Images & Words — I must now publicly reveal 7 random facts about myself and then pass these four awards along as a set to 14 other deserving bloggers — the FANTASTIC FOURteen — to either accept or decline; PEACEFULLY, mind you. So, just lower that pea shooter, pilgrim and I’ll be on my way momentarily.

The Palladian Traveler on Broadway(1) I’m a big fan of the late Italian director Sergio Leone and his “spaghetti westerns.” (2) I like a good Broadway musical or play whenever I find myself along the Great White Way. (3) I love the boys from Brazil: Luiz Bonfá, João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim. (4) My favorite white wine is Sauvignon Blanc. (5) My favorite food is an Italian wood-fired, thin-crusted pizza. (6) During his playing days, I was a big fan of French footballer (soccer) Michel Platini, who, in my opinion, could bend it better than Beckham on free kicks. (7) And, I have yet to lose the lens cap on my versatile little Panasonic-Lumix DMC LX3 camera (I never leave home without it).

Here now are The Palladian Traveler’s FANTASTIC FOURteen nominees for the aforementioned blogging awards:

Pat of A New Day
Marianne of East of Málaga
Luffy of Tosh and Tomatoes
Madelaine of Pixelicious
Cathy of The Open Suitcase
Nicole of Gourmand Chic
Francis of Trail of Crumbs
Leanne of Leanne Cole Photography
Sylvia of Another Day in Paradise
Maria of Paris en Photographies
Stéphane of My French Heaven
Emily of Hoof Beats and Foot Prints
Rommel of The Sophomore Slump
Vladi and Johna of Wind Against Current

Congrats to all of the FANTASTIC FOURteen bloggers. I’ll leave it up to you to accept or decline this offer, but, either way, don’t forget to “pay it forward” to 14 more well-deserving authors like yourself.

Isn’t that right, Josie?

  1. Tom, I’m incredibly honoured that you like my wee blog and that you’ve recognised that in your blog awards. Thank you so much! In my case the pea shooter is lowered, I promise. I’ll give some thought as to whether I can accept over the next few days, but in any case THANK YOU! It’s lovely to be appreciated 🙂

  2. We are most certainly not going to shoot the messenger—on the contrary! Congratulations on your most deserved awards, and thanks so much for nominating us!! We are greatly honored. We are getting our own awards post ready… 🙂

  3. Congrats to you, Tom. You deserve all of these awards.Thank you so much for recognising my blog again. I’m happy to say that I do already have all of these, but am very honoured nevertheless. 🙂

  4. Congratulations on your recent “merit badges.” Definitely well deserved…. though I may have to agree about Platini’s abilities…

      1. Yeahhhhh, was supposed to be DISagree, but sometimes my fingers betray me. I don’t necessarily disagree with his ability as compared to Beckham, just on his talent over all… then again, my image of his playing days could just be tarnished by what he has been doing to the sport since…

  5. Hi Tom, I don’t know if you’re still doing your blog, but believe it or not, I just found this message! lol A year or so later? smh Didn’t really blog last year….a thousand thank you’s for including me…..coming from someone such as yourself, well, I’m quite honored. Please accept my apologies…I’m trying it again this year! Wishing you and yours and Happy & Healthy New Year!
