Cheri Lucas at WordPress HQ just pulled her collar up as the climatic mood where she lives begins its annual swing from fall over to winter.
Inspired by the chill on her face, Cheri’s asking each of us to describe in photos the seasonal change underway where we hang our hats, earmuffs, scarves, thermal underwear, etc., or, if lucky, cargo shorts and flip-flops.
With JACK Frost nipping at my nose, RUDOLPH prepping to the light way, and OLD MAN Winter sending me to the store for new outerwear, the three “wise men,” collectively, can mean only one thing: the seasons around my humble abode on Viale Verdi are a-changin’.
Yep, wintertime has finally arrived in many places around the Northern Hemisphere; actually, a few weeks ahead of schedule IF you’re a purist and believe that December 21st (Winter Solstice for 2012) officially jump starts wintertime.
For me, the seasonal change began the middle part of November as I swapped out my summer tires for a winter set to ensure my AWD white steed makes it over the river and through the snow all season long unscathed. Good thing, too, as we had our first dusting last night.
Speaking of “dusting,” I culled through my photo archives of recent winters past and put together the following short video to honor Jack, Rudolph and the Old Man.
Enjoy the climatic “changing of the guard” wherever you may be.

Love the video, Tom. That jazz is fabulous. Who is it?
Sylvia – The jazz pianist is the late Vince Guaraldi who scored a lot of the Charlie Brown (Peanuts) TV specials and who penned “Cast Your Fate to the Wind.”
I love Jack, Rudolph & the Old Man….I’m glad you clarified who’s who though! lol
Great job!
Madelaine – Thanks for the “thumbs up,” from me, Jack, Rudolph and the Old Geezer.
Wonderful post and the photos that you show in your slideshow are so beautiful. Love your gift of the written word.
BRM – Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting on my “gift.” Truly appreciated.
This is great! I was just telling my sister the other day that I wish I felt more holiday-like. I live in L.A and w/o the snow sometimes I have to fake my way into the feeling haha..but this video totally made me feel it w/o trying! Thanks!
Mags – I, too, lived a spell in Greater La-La Land — 20 years actually — and had the same struggle during the holiday season. Thankfully, Big Bear had a bit of man-made “dust” to get me into the holiday spirit just a tad. Always found it funny to unwrap XMAS gifts in a tee, shorts and flip-flops. Do miss the warm weather, but with snow tires now in place I say, “Bring it on!” Thanks for taking the time to read/view the post. Happy holidays from TPT.
Lovely. Merry Christmas Tom!
Happy holidays to you, too.
I love the appearance of your site and the content I find here. This pleasant post is no exception. Marvelous and tranquil. You’ll be added to my blogroll today.
Lori – Glad you stopped by. Thanks for rolling TPT into your blog.
