La Grotta Azzurra (the Blue Grotto) of Castro beckons explorers inside. The grotto, accessible only by sea and famous for its cobalt luminescence, lies open along the Adriatic Sea coastline of the Salento in the Puglia region of Southeastern Italy.

Meandering along the cobblestone and travertine to somewhere…
Isn’t it marvellous? Did the boatmen sing to you too. I was there a year ago.

No singing on my boat, but I think it was the quiet that made all the difference. Glad you stopped by.
Beautiful blue…just the color of one of your many shirts!!!
If I could recreate that blue inside the grotto, dye up some cotton and hire a good shirt maker, I’d be in business.
That’s not blue. Oh wait! It’s so blue. 😀
URGH! This reminds me of the grotto experience I missed when I was in Capri. 🙁
I guess your comment means that you did not go inside the blue grotto on Capri. Crowds aside, what a shame. Maybe next time? Thanks for viewing my shot.
Wow, is it really that blue? Nicely done. You know you could enter this photo in the Photo Friday challenge this week too. Their theme is vivid and that’s pretty vivid. I mostly combine these challenges, it’s more…um…challenging. 🙂
Veronica – Thanks for viewing the frame and your comments. Yes, it’s that blue, cobalt blue, that is; and, that’s the attraction of this grotto. I’m not aware of a Friday photo challenge. Care to enlighten me? Thanks.
It’s a Friday call out for photographs along a theme. Just a fun little something to share with like-minded people. At photofriday.com. You know how these challenges go…you can get up to your neck in them, but, as a photographer, I like to complicate things so combine them. 🙂
The obsession with blue continues…
TOS – My obsession with BLUE will NEVER go away. We’re tied at the hip! Thanks for the “thumbs up.”
We were able to experience the blue grotto in Capri! It was very interesting and quite tough to get a decent picture. It felt somewhat rushed since there was still a large crowd waiting to go in. We’ll be blogging about it in the future 🙂
Oh my…that is simply breathtaking. WOW and WOW again…what colour
Thanks Jo!
